U.S. Willie Williams Obituary

Lt. Col. (Ret Army) Lt. Col. (Ret Army) U.S. “Willie” Williams, 77, of Dale City, VA, died on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge, VA.

U.S. “Willie” Williams was born on July 10, 1932 in Hardwood, LA. He is preceeded in death by his wife of 37 years, Mary Frances Williams and brothers Ford Williams, Frank Williams anc Clarence Williams, sisters Mary Taylor, Marie Leggins and Delores Jones of Houston, TX, and Baton Rouge, LA. He is survived by daughter Stephanie F. Hilbert of Stafford, VA; daughter Myrna Y. Williams of Woodbridge, VA, nephew Ernest Hazelton, of Denver, CO., niece Coretta Hazleton, San Diego, CA, niece Ivy Taylor of Port Arthur, TX, grandson, Austin Hilbert and a host of loving family and friends.

U.S. “Willie” Williams graduated with honors from Southern University, Batron Rouge, LA with a B.S. in Secondary Education, served in the U.S Army in Vietnam and Korea in which he was awarded the Legion of Merit with Silver Star, Army commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. After retiring from the US Army at the rank of Lt. Colenel, he began a career as an insurance agent. Later he became an established realtor with the Coldwell Banker Stevens in Woodbridge, VA until his death. He was also an active leader/member in the Lions Club, Fellowship Club, American Legion, ACTS, Democratic Committe, NAACP, Mental health Board, Community Corrections Resource Board and attended Good Shepard United Methodist Church in Woodbridge, VA.

A visitation and celebration of Willie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Ames Funeral Home, 8914 Quarry Road, Manassas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepard United Methodist Church, 14999 Birchdale Avenue, Woodbridge. The interment will follow at Quanitco National Cemetary in Quantico, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
